Saab Gripen fighter. (13MAY2015).- This time we present an interview with management of the company SAAB, on its participation in SITDEF 2015.

Why will participate in SITDEF 2015?

SITDEF is an important event for Saab with high visibility, not only in Peru but for the entire Latin America region. We are here to demonstrate Saab’s interest and capability as a long term partner in various defence and security related programs in Latin America. Hopefully we can find new and develop already existing contacts of interest for our business.

What is the most attractive market for security, defence, or the prevention of natural disasters in Peru?

We believe that many of our products and solutions for both defence and natural disasters can be of interest for Peru – Airborne early warning and control, Surface based radar systems, Combat systems and C4I solutions, Training and simulation, Electronic warfare, Ground combat weapon systems et cetera. And of course, we always highlight our Gripen fighter.

What does your company do?

We help safeguard people and societies in Peru and the rest of Latin America, solving real problems and threats in the region. Saab’s portfolio encompasses everything from advanced military systems to solutions for border surveillance and traffic management. Saab is a Swedish company with operations and employees on all continents around the world. Through innovative, collaborative and pragmatic thinking, Saab develops, adopts and improves new technology to meet customers’ changing needs.

Which of your products or services carried SITDEF 2015?

We are presenting some of our product areas that are of interest for Peru and other Latin American countries. At SITDEF, we will be showcasing our wide range of security and defence solutions, including the Gripen fighter, the flexible air-defence system RBS 70 NG, and the Saab 2000 Erieye wide-area surveillance. We are also displaying our systems and solutions for the army and navy as well as products for the civil security domain – electronic warfare, training and simulation, camouflage, radars, submarines, communication to name a few…

What are the strengths of these products or services, and why should acquire in Peru?

It is truly state-of-the-art products, offering a unique combination of high quality and low life cycle costs. Gripen brings together performance, cost-efficiency and industrial partnership in one smart fighter. And the Erieye (Airborne Early Warning and Control) has cutting-edge wide-area surveillance capabilities for air and sea surface detection. Our innovative products and solutions can be effectively integrated into existing systems – both Gripen and Erieye can set the stage for a country's defence system. Also, Saab has a very strong track record of setting up local partnerships and performing technology transfer around the world.

Have sold prior to Peru some of its products or services? What were the results?

We have recently increased our focus in Peru and identified several areas where our solutions could serve Peruvian armed forces and the defence industry in a good way. We are currently in dialogue with all three branches on different projects and hope to reveal more information shortly.

Does your company bring something new to SITDEF 2015?

Just recently, our portfolio of high-performance radar systems has been extended. The new generation of radars with AESA antennas provide a considerably longer range for detecting small objects and stealth targets. The extension also means common platforms, unified building blocks and modular architecture for air, land and naval radar. We offer a full range of high-performing radar systems for a multitude of applications and mission types. All Saab radars combine battle-proven designs from the renowned Erieye, Arthur and Giraffe AMB product families.

Why should people go to visit its booth at SITDEF 2015?

Naturally, we would like to show everyone our models of Gripen and Erieye. But visitors should also come to us learn more about our broad portfolio within defence and security and to meet a trustworthy company when it comes to quality, innovation and business ethics. We have a long history of doing open, serious and successful business in several countries across Latin America.
